Handcrafted from solid walnut and cherry hardwood, this end grain cutting board is built to be both a durable everyday kitchen tool and a distinctive piece of functional woodworking. Each board is individually made by milling, cutting, arranging, gluing, flattening, sanding, and finishing carefully selected hardwood to create the rich contrast and patterned appearance that makes end grain butcher block so recognizable.
End grain construction positions the ends of the wood fibers at the cutting surface, allowing knife edges to move between the fibers rather than constantly cutting across them. This creates a durable, knife-friendly work surface that is well suited for chopping, slicing, carving, food preparation, and everyday kitchen use.
The combination of dark walnut and warm cherry gives each board a naturally unique appearance. Walnut brings deep brown tones and bold grain character, while cherry adds warmer reddish and golden hues that continue to develop and deepen with age. Because every board is made from real hardwood, variations in grain, color, and pattern are expected, making each finished piece one of a kind.
